The University Game Award contest launched
The goal for the participants is to submit an online game idea, concept description and sketches. The 2010 University Game Award will be held in two universities – Linnaeus University, Sweden and Kharkiv National University of Radio and Electronics, Ukraine.
The University Game Award is the very first Swedish-Ukrainian student contest,
which will help to discover new, fresh ideas in the online gaming industry and their authors – the
most talented students. Officially started in February, the contest will last till the end of
spring, and the jury will name the winners in early September, 2010. The best game ideas will be
put into production by Boss Media, and their authors will receive from €500 to €1000 in prize money
and have a chance to be employed at Sigma Kudos in Sweden or at Eclipse SP in Ukraine.
Since Sigma Kudos and Eclipse SP had previously initiated international educational programs
between the two mentioned Universities, this time in was decided to broaden this successful
collaboration with the student contest.
In a video conference between the two participating Universities, which was held
in February, 2010, Ukrainian and Swedish students had a chance to see their foreign competitors and
talk to Boss Media representatives, asking them about trends in the gaming business and contest
details. After all questions were solved, students registered to challenge their inner creativity.
“This contest is a great chance for students to obtain an insight of a real business in the
segment of online games development, and thus prepare for a competitive workplace” says Valery
Krasovsky, Eclipse SP COO. “The student’s ideas are a picture of tomorrow’s world, and
through this contest we will have a glimpse of what our gaming future will be.”
